HOUSTON, Texas — Blake Gillingham kept a clean sheet in Houston Dynamo FC's 1-0 victory over LAFC at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, making two saves in an accomplished display in just his second career MLS start.
Gillingham made his first career MLS start on March 30th against the Portland Timbers, recording a career-high seven saves in a 3-1 defeat — becoming the second-youngest goalkeeper to start a game for Houston in the process. Pressed into starting duty due to injuries to both Andrew Tarbell and Jimmy Maurer, Gillingham has now recorded two shutouts in his first three MLS appearances. The clean sheet made Houston the only MLS team to hold LAFC scoreless in five consecutive regular season matches.
He joined Houston Dynamo FC as a undrafted free agent in February 2025 after starting all 18 matches in his junior year at Creighton University, where he made 48 saves and recorded four clean sheets. He made his MLS debut on March 22nd in a scoreless draw against Seattle Sounders FC — recording his first professional clean sheet.
